Castor Oil – Soap Making Supplies

$10.00

Castor Oil is a thick oil similar to glycerin, it also shares the humectant properties of glycerin. This Oil has a shelf life of about two years so no serious rush to use it all up.

When making cold process soap its best to use about 2-5% castor oil of the total oil weight although it can be used up to 8-10%. Any thing more than 10% typically makes your soap a bit on the sticky side, especially when wet. The oil mainly contributes to a stable and fluffy lather and its one of the few oils that can do that. Trying to substitute may be problematic.

Caution: Castor oil is known to  speed up your trace, so be mindful of that.

Castor oil is a natural plant oil obtained from the seed of the castor plant.
