Candle and Melt and Pour Soap Pouring Pots

Who would think that you need a specialized pot for candle making? Well its not absolutely necessary but it does come in handy and can be used not only in candle making but in melt and pour soap making.

The pouring pot is one of a two-part system that makes up a double boiler. A double boiler is a series of two pots, one fits within the other while the larger is often shallow and is used to hold water.

The shallow watered pot is at the bottom and is heated to cause the water to boil. The other pot, in this case the pouring pot is placed in the hot water which heats the pouring pot and melts the wax or melt and pour soap.

Once the wax or soap has been melted the pouring pot has a spout that makes it easy to pour the wax into a container or the melted melt and pour soap into its mold.

A double boiler can be made out of any type of pot however for ease of use and functionality its best to have the right tool for the job.

Here are our recommendations for pouring pots and double boiler.

Recommended Pouring Pot

Candle Making Pouring Pot, 4 pounds

  • Holds up to 4 pounds of melted wax. 8-inch-tall by 5.5 inch in diameter. Perfect item for DIY candle making.
  • Excellent heat conductivity helps the wax to cool down real quickly. Nonstick and easy to wash with soap and water.
  • Our special-plastic-designed handle features 4 times stronger heat-resistant ability making it cool and safe to touch all the way during heating.
  • It comes with a dripless spout of great control which is super easy for you to pour a constant stream of wax without spilling.

Candle Making Pouring Pot, 2 pounds

  • Holds up to 2 pounds of melted wax. 5-inch-tall by 4.6 inch in diameter.

I find that having a 2lb and a 4lb pouring pot on hand works best for my needs. Often I may want a small batch of candles hence the 2lb pouring pot is used while for other times the 4lb is better.

Using a typical 4oz candle container the 2lb pouring pot can make up to 8 container candles although I do not recommend filling the pot to the top where candle wax is at the pouring spout.

Its best to keep it slightly below the pouring spout hence I would say the 2lb pouring pout would make 7 4oz container candles.

Recommended Boiler Pan

Cast Iron Round Pan, 8 in

  • 8 Inch Round Seasoned Cast Iron Pan works great as a water pan for a double boiler
  • Add water and heat on a stove, then add pouring pot to melt wax.

Having a easy pour, pouring pot is great as there is no substitute for the right tool. However without a pan to heat the water that will heat the pouring pot that then melts the wax it won’t work.

Having a cast iron pan works and last a long time. Water heats faster and stays hotter while keeping the wax or other items such as shea or cocoa butter liquid.

The combination of cast iron pan and pouring works well together.
